Me

Steve’s the name, Omeloon’s the alias: Given to me ’cause some would say I’m hilarious! Born a Sagittarius, and a month pre-mature… Had to spend a month in an in-cu-ba(y)-tor!

I’m basically done life as a student. Graduated from the University of Toronto, and then teacher’s college at Canisius College. I’m hoping to become a teacher sooner than later. Absolutely love working with kids!!!

I love staying active and exploring new areas, especially restaurants. I eat pretty much everything (including Mexican, Thai, Indian, Japanese, and Italian, amongst many other types of food). Huge sports fan and ex-comic book fanatic. I follow basketball religiously, and play a whole bunch of recreational sports with my friends just for fun. Basketball and music are pretty much my life! I love all kinds, and love to dance – have even taken a few hip-hop and salsa classes just for kicks. While I’m not the greatest dancer, I usually get tons of love and compliments at the club. People love my wacky freestyles. I’m one of the most mellow and easy going people around… I enjoy. I just do!!

25 things

1. I love eating out and discovering new restaurants. I enjoy Thai, Cajun, Indian, Italian, Mexican, Southern, Japanese, and Chinese food. I often explore neighbourhoods that are new to me in hope that I find a delicious eatery that will catch my eye.

2. It has always been a dream of mine to open up a restaurant. Not sure if that dream will ever come to fruition, but if it does, I would love to introduce some real Southern dishes to Toronto – not sure if Toronto is ready for some of the unhealthy dishes I would like to bring though.

3. I would love to open a restaurant, but I have no desire to cook for large audiences. That being said, I find myself quickly becoming more and more interested in food and how to prepare tasty and unique dishes.

4. Candy is a food group. My favourite food group.

5. I really enjoy yet miss expressing myself creatively. Just a few years ago I was writing almost daily, taking a few very basic hip hop and salsa dance classes, and even trying to improve my sketching skills. Not even sure when it happened, but at some point in my journey I lost my eagerness to perfect my crafts. I am eager to get back to my creative and knowledge thirsting ways.

6. I have always been somewhat embarrassed by my vocabulary, and find myself reading more and more to try to build on it.

7. I’m self-conscious about how quiet I can get. Try not to call me out ☺

8. I feel more comfortable talking to a group of 30 children than to one of five adults.

9. I look forward to the day that I will be a father.

10. I finished teacher’s college and received my Master’s of Science in Education, but because I didn’t take the pre-reqs of the program too seriously, I might have to wait quite some time before I can start applying for real jobs.

11. I take procrastination to new levels.

12. I love to travel, and have the travelling bug like you wouldn’t believe. I’ve spent a month in Italy, and nothing appeals to me more than getting to know a country and its culture. I hope to see Japan, Australia, and perhaps Peru within the next five years.

13. I miss performers and athletes of the 90’s. Ken Griffey, Emmitt Smith, and Will Smith were probably my biggest role models growing up. I loved how they had fun with everything they did, were/are great at what they do, and how they have always acted as true role models. Jay Z is my favourite musical artist of all time, but I wish I didn’t know anything about him outside of what he raps about.

14. I love hip hop. I wish more people listened to Common and Brother Ali, but I still have love for the nonsense that is often spat over hot beats – as long as I can dance to it (and especially if it has its own dance). Dances out of Harlem (Like the Chicken Noodle Soup or Aunt Jackie) are always fun!

15. I could never own enough Air Force Ones or fitted caps.

16. If you know me, you know that I rarely use my phone. I’m pretty much allergic to it.

17. MTV reality shows are my guilty pleasures.

18. I am very hard to read. I’m usually happy and real easy to please, but I’m not good at expressing how I feel. I’m not really the type to laugh myself to tears or to burst in excitement. Trying to read me from my facial expressions is a pretty daunting task, and so I usually exaggerate whenever possible – which sort of comes natural now. People seem to assume I’m bored a lot, but that is rarely the case.

19. I now know I can feel love.

20. You cannot define me. I like to changeup my style as much as I can. Try to buy from various clothing stores, don’t want to look like a mannequin. Used to say I’m a little bit metro, a little bit thug, but I guess I do dress preppy more than anything else now – doesn’t mean I won’t rock a fitted cap to the side with a skull t-shirt though.

21. Swim like a rock. Can’t skate like a hockey player. Water, whether it’s frozen or not, just doesn’t like me.

22. I hate my hair if it does not have any gel/wax in it.

23. I somehow had the majority of my grade seven classmates thinking I originated the phrase ‘my brother from another mother.’ I really heard it from the show “Hangtime.” I enjoyed elementary school more than I did high school and university.

24. I had crazy acne from grades 6-10. For some reason I was more social and confident in speaking when I had acne problems.

25. I enjoy. I just do.
